On February 15, 2012, the Daily Journal Corporation conferred its prestigious California Lawyer of the Year, or CLAY, award on Joseph Creitz for his successful work for the plaintiff in Cyr v. Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company. The award will be delivered by California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye at a ceremony in March 2012.
For Joe's trial work on Stanton v. Chung, Danielle Stanton says: Joe Creitz is amazing! From prepping me for trial, all the way through managing my full blown panic attacks during trial, Joe assuaged my fears and inspired confidence at every turn. His leadership brought focus to myself and the entire trial team, and his dominant courtroom performance won my case. I couldn't imagine being more satisfied with my trial experience, because of Joe. He is a stellar attorney, and I would recommend him to everyone.
In his January 2008 order awarding attorney's fees to Joe and his co-counsel in Cyr v. Reliance Standard, United States District Court Judge Dean D. Pregerson described Joe's legal work as "excellent," "impressive," and "superb" and awarded him fees at the rate of $475 per hour.
For his work on the Chao v. Dearman, et al., trial team, in April 2004 United States Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao bestowed upon Joe the Secretary's Exceptional Achievement Award.
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown named December 19, 2003, "Joe Creitz Day in San Francisco."
Attorney Herbert L. Terreri says: Joe is an impressively thoughtful and creative attorney. He's also been an invaluable resource in the areas of tax, ERISA, and labor law - highly specialized areas of law which most attorneys are afraid to touch. His judgment is impeccable, and I would recommend him to any client without reservation.
Former boss and current client Grace Stanat, CEO of 415 Productions, Inc. says of Joe: In the vast population of attorneys, Joe Creitz is a gem. Joe is experienced, skillful and knowledgeable. Even more importantly, though, he always uses his knowledge and skill to find the most practical and beneficial solutions. He has proven time and again that not only can he grasp a specific situation -- no matter how complex, but he will respond with relevant advice and appropriate action. Although he's trained as a litigator, as General Counsel to 415, Joe kept the business entirely out of litigation during his tenure; yet he managed to do so without compromising when we had a strong position. Over the six years that I've known him, we have consistently turned to Joe for his counsel and assistance, and we have never been disappointed.
